4 Questions

1. What is something about your life right now that you would have never imagined 5 years ago?
If you’d told me in 2010 that in July 2015 my daughter would marry one of her brother’s best friends, the one who had a crush on her since she was in fourth grade, the one she wrote off as too nerdy, I would have burst out laughing. Happy laughter, though. Her brand-new husband was my favorite Sunday school kid. It was so much fun watching her fall in love.

2. What is one thing that you would go back and do differently if you could?
I don’t think I would. My most painful moments taught me compassion. My biggest failures built perseverance. And my greatest sins stripped me of self-righteousness and brought me to God in pure humility.

3. What is one of the happiest moments of your life?
Since our nest is emptying rapidly—our youngest will be a senior this year!—my happiest moments are when all three kids are home. Oops! Four kids now! Listening to them joke and tease and simply enjoy each other is my biggest delight. It makes up for the “He looked at me!”/”She’s breathing on me!” years.

4. What is one thing you want the next generation to know?
Proverbs 3:5-6: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”

Thank you so much for sharing your heart with us Sarah and congrats on your daughter’s wedding and gaining a son-in-law! It’s been a pleasure hosting you on the blog.
